About DCSU Founders
DCSU was founded by four members who combined their unique skill sets and shared vision to establish the Syracuse University debate team, leaving a lasting legacy that promoted critical thinking, effective communication, and respectful discourse within the university community.

Cem Aral
President
Cem is a Economics, Political Science, and History major with a knack for public speaking. He was born and raised in Istanbul, Turkey and aspires to go to law school. He has a remarkable talent for logic and reasoning. His dedication to fostering an environment for rigorous intellectual discourse played a crucial role in the founding of the debate team. Cem's vision was to create a platform where students could hone their persuasive abilities while engaging in constructive discussions on various topics.
Isaac Arnold
Vice President
Isaac is a Biotechnology major attending Syracuse on the 1870 full academic scholarship. Isaac is from Nova Scotia, Canada. He plays for Syracuse University’s Men’s Hockey Team. As Isaac plans on attending medical school after graduating, his particular areas of interest are medical ethics and public policy. His vision is to create an inclusive environment from intellectual dialogue and hopes to foster student’s ability to voice their opinions in all fields.
Haley Greene
Secretary
Haley is an Advertising and Communications and Rhetorical studies major. She was born and Raised In Los Angeles California. Her enthusiasm for rhetoric and argumentation, combined with her leadership skills, laid the groundwork for helping to establish the debate team. Haley is known for her exceptional communication skills and ability to connect with diverse audiences. Her passion for effective dialogue and creating a platform for inclusive discussions propelled the idea and establishment of DCSU. Haley's focus on promoting diversity of thought and ensuring that everyone's voice was heard became integral to the team's foundation.
Mack Bowen
Treasurer
Mack is a Finance and Accounting major. He was born and raised in Stowe Vermont. He is super active and has a love for the outdoors. Mack has always been a numbers-oriented person which has heightened his passion for business finance, and accounting. Mack’s strategic vision and analytical edge were pivotal in the formation of this team. He brought his critical thinking and persuasive skills to the team's formation.
